Legend has it that in England a monk named William of Doncaster prepared herbal teas and tisanes to combat seasonal diseases in 1817. By mixing menthol and eucalyptol, he came up with candies with an intense, rounded flavour which combined balsamic benefits with the pleasure of persistent freshness. From this ancient recipe came Monk's, the monk's candy, which is still prepared to the recipe of the legendary Friar William to this day.
